This page is for a US controller, cost accountant, EHS manager or operations lead at a manufacturer or distributor that runs Infor CloudSuite, whether that is M3, LN or CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine), and has just been asked for a carbon number. The request usually comes from one of four places: a large customer sending a supplier emissions questionnaire, a CDP response, a lender's sustainability-linked covenant, or a parent company that falls under California's SB 253. The first question is always the same. Does Infor already do this, or do we need to buy something?
The honest answer is that Infor has real ESG features, and they are pointed at a different job. Below is what Infor's own material says ESG reporting covers, which CloudSuites get it, where it stops for a US emissions inventory, and what the export route costs by comparison. Infor is headquartered in New York, is owned by Koch Industries, and says more than 67,000 organizations use its software, so the gap described here applies to a lot of US plants.
What does Infor ESG reporting include?
Infor ESG Environmental Reporting is a set of analytics capabilities inside CloudSuite Industry Analytics. Infor's executive brief describes an energy dashboard, framework templates that populate themselves from the Infor Data Lake, and exports to PDF, PowerPoint and CSV. Around it, Infor lists several related tools across its product line. The table maps each piece to what you would still have to provide for a US carbon inventory.
| Area | What Infor says it does | What it leaves to you |
|---|---|---|
| Energy dashboard | Total energy use in one view, by country, energy type, renewable vs non-renewable, and energy sold vs energy used. Infor called it "the first of many dashboards planned for release" | Converting energy to tonnes CO2e with a stated factor; Infor material does not describe a US factor library |
| Framework templates | Built-in templates for GRI 302 (energy) and ESRS E1 (climate change), populated automatically from the Infor Data Lake | Any US format: CDP, SB 253 or a customer's supplier template |
| Data collection | The Data Lake and data fabric pull environmental data from CloudSuite, other business applications and spreadsheets | Mapping purchases to the 15 Scope 3 categories and choosing spend or activity factors |
| Exports | Metrics export to PDF, PowerPoint and CSV files | A line-level evidence trail from each tonne to its source invoice, which Infor material does not describe |
| Strategy, Planning and Execution | OKR-based module with an activity manager for ESG goals, for early adopters in M3 Food and Beverage, Distribution, Fashion, Chemical and Manufacturing | A baseline year and an emissions number to set targets against |
| Infor Nexus | Supply chain network with a carbon emissions tracking dashboard and Map and Trace visibility across supplier tiers | Supplier data for suppliers that are not on the Nexus network |
| Supply planning | Tracks CO2 from transportation alongside raw material, inventory and distribution planning | Everything outside transport: utilities, fuel, purchased goods, services, travel |
| PLM for Process | Packaging composition and carbon footprint, with supplier CO2 data by material and weight | A company inventory by scope rather than a product footprint |
Which Infor CloudSuites include ESG reporting?
Infor's March 2024 executive brief says ESG Environmental Reporting is included in the M3 and LN CloudSuites for Food and Beverage, Distribution, Fashion, Chemical, Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, Engineering and Construction, and Industrial Enterprise, and that it is "available for early adopters only." CloudSuite Industrial, the SyteLine product that a large share of smaller US discrete manufacturers run, is not on that list. If you are on SyteLine, plan on the export route regardless.
The roadmap is moving. An Infor Community webinar for LN customers covers what is planned for the April and October 2026 feature releases: data-acquisition packages for reporting under ESRS, VSME and other frameworks, a new item-level ESG application that stores ERP transaction data in one format, defines ESG attributes per item, builds digital product passports and imports ESG data from suppliers, plus product-based taxes, EUDR, CBAM and emission rights. Read that list again and notice what it has in common. ESRS, VSME, EUDR and CBAM are all European rules. SB 253, CDP and the EPA Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program do not appear in the material we reviewed.
Does Infor ESG calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions?
Not in a way Infor documents publicly. Infor's published material describes energy metrics, GRI and ESRS templates, and transport CO2 in supply planning, but it does not describe a GHG Protocol calculation across Scope 1, Scope 2 and all 15 Scope 3 categories with a US emission factor library. Ask Infor for the factor source and version before you rely on it.
That matters because a US carbon inventory is mostly a factor problem. Scope 1 needs EPA combustion factors for natural gas, propane and diesel. Scope 2 needs eGRID subregion factors for each site's electricity, and a market-based figure if you buy renewable power. Scope 3 for a manufacturer is dominated by Category 1 purchased goods and services, which for a first inventory is usually screened with EPA's USEEIO spend-based factors and then refined with activity data for the biggest suppliers. An energy dashboard reports kilowatt hours and therms well. It does not tell you which of your suppliers belongs in Category 1, 2 or 4, or what factor applies to each.
Infor ESG route
- 01 Load the Data Lake Energy and environmental data from CloudSuite, other applications and spreadsheets
- 02 Map the metrics Energy by country, type and source; any CO2e conversion and its factors set up by your team
- 03 Fill a template GRI 302 for energy or ESRS E1 for climate, populated from Industry Analytics
- 04 Export the report PDF, PowerPoint or CSV; a CDP or SB 253 format is built outside
CarbonAccounting.ai route
- 01 Export AP lines Supplier invoice lines for the reporting year from M3, LN or SyteLine to CSV or Excel
- 02 US factors per line EPA USEEIO spend factors and eGRID electricity, with the factor stored on each line
- 03 Review the unsure lines Every line gets a scope, one of 15 Scope 3 categories, a reason and a confidence score
- 04 Evidenced inventory Each tonne linked to its invoice line, ready for SB 253, CDP or a customer questionnaire
Infor carbon accounting from the AP invoice export
Every Infor company already holds the raw material for a carbon inventory in accounts payable. Pull the supplier invoice lines for the reporting year with these fields: supplier name, line description, GL account, amount, quantity and unit where the line has them, invoice date, and the purchase order line if there is one. M3 and LN keep the PO line against the invoice, which is useful, because a PO line for 40,000 pounds of steel coil is activity data you can use later instead of a spend estimate.
Utility, natural gas, propane and diesel invoices usually carry a quantity as well as a dollar amount, and they cover most of Scope 1 and 2 for a plant. The rest of the file, raw materials, packaging, inbound freight, maintenance, contract labor, IT and business travel, is what a spend-based Scope 3 screen runs on. In our product you import that CSV or Excel file as it comes out of Infor, and each line comes back with a scope, a Scope 3 category, the factor used, a short reason and a confidence score. Low-confidence lines go to a review queue; everything else is ready to export with a link back to the source line.
That evidence link is the part auditors and customers ask about. When a customer's procurement team challenges a supplier number, or a limited assurance provider samples tonnes for SB 253 in 2027, you open the tonne and see the invoice line it came from. For the methodology behind the spend screen, see how to calculate Scope 3 emissions from spend.

The top bar is CARB's figure from its SB 253 regulatory impact assessment, broken down on SB 253 compliance cost. The Persefoni figure is the lowest Advanced tier on its AWS Marketplace listing. Infor ESG reporting may cost nothing extra if your CloudSuite edition includes it and you are accepted as an early adopter, but the factor work, Scope 3 mapping and filing format still need someone's time. Our plans and what each includes are on the pricing page.
Where each option fits
Infor ESG reporting
You report under ESRS or GRI for a European parent, your CloudSuite edition includes it, you are an early adopter, and energy is the metric people ask about first.
Compliance
Export the AP lines for the year, classify, review and send. Activity-based factors and supplier data requests are included, at $7,740 a year.
Ledger
Scope 1, 2 and spend-based Scope 3 screening for one company from the AP export, with the mapping kept so next year is a re-run. $2,340 a year.
Can Infor be used for SB 253 reporting?
Not as published. SB 253 requires companies with more than $1 billion in total annual revenue that do business in California to report Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, with the first report due November 10, 2026, and Scope 3 from 2027. Infor's ESG material does not mention SB 253, so the Scope 1 and 2 calculation, the factor documentation and the submission format sit with your team either way.
Many Infor manufacturers are below the $1 billion line themselves and meet SB 253 as a supplier: a larger customer in scope asks for their emissions to build its own Scope 3. That request arrives as a questionnaire, not a filing, and it usually wants a total by scope with a short methodology note. The AP export route answers it in days. For the full requirement and how tools handle it, see SB 253 reporting software.
Questions to ask Infor before relying on ESG reporting for a US filing
- 01 Which emission factors, from which source and year? A US inventory needs EPA combustion factors and eGRID subregions. Get the source and version in writing.
- 02 Which Scope 3 categories does it calculate? Ask for the list against the 15 GHG Protocol categories, and how purchased goods and services are estimated.
- 03 Is it in our CloudSuite and edition today? Confirm your M3 or LN industry edition, whether early adopter status applies, and whether SyteLine is covered.
- 04 Can it produce a CDP response or SB 253 submission? The published templates are GRI 302 and ESRS E1. Ask what a US format would take.
- 05 Can an auditor trace a metric to its source transaction? SB 253 limited assurance starts with 2027 reports. Ask to see the trail from a tonne to an invoice.
