IBM Envizi pricing, IBM Envizi ESG Suite pricing and what Envizi costs a US company
This page is for a US controller, sustainability lead or procurement manager holding an IBM Envizi proposal, or about to request one, who wants to know what the number is made of before the call. The facts come from three IBM sources read in October 2026: the Envizi pricing page on ibm.com, the Envizi Emissions API page, and IBM's own listing for the Envizi ESG Suite on AWS Marketplace. Unlike most enterprise carbon platforms, IBM publishes a starting price and the rule that moves it, so the figures here are IBM's, not estimates.
We sell a competing product, so weigh our part of the page accordingly. Where Envizi is worth its price, we say so. If you want to see how your own spend data classifies before any sales call, run the demo below on a sample of your accounts payable export.

Whether the Envizi price makes sense depends on the data you need to manage
Many sites, meters and utility bills
Building, utility and interval meter data across hundreds of locations, managed and audited in one system. This is the job Envizi is built and priced for.
A first SB 253 filing
Scope 1 and 2 by November 10, 2026, then limited assurance and Scope 3 from 2027. Compare a quote with SB 253 reporting software priced for the filing alone.
A customer or CDP request
One inventory, evidenced line by line, built by finance from the AP export. That is what our published plans cover.
How much does IBM Envizi cost?
IBM Envizi costs at least $30,000 a year. IBM's AWS Marketplace listing for the Envizi ESG Suite offers a 12-month contract with one pricing dimension, described as "Pricing based on data volume, starting from $30,000.00." Your quote goes up from there as the amount of data you load grows, and IBM's pricing page says functionality such as ESG reporting, Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculations and supply chain emissions management is added on top of the data bundle to reach the final price.
Two terms on the AWS listing deserve attention before you sign. The contract runs for 12 months, and the vendor refund policy reads: "All orders are non-cancellable and all fees and other amounts paid are non-refundable." Implementation is not part of the listed price either; IBM and its partners scope it during the sales process, and partner quick-start services for Envizi are sold separately on the same marketplace.

What drives IBM Envizi ESG Suite pricing?
IBM Envizi ESG Suite pricing is driven by Accounts, and Accounts are driven by your footprint on the ground. IBM's calculator estimates the number of Accounts from your industry and the number of locations you want to include, then places you in a bundle. An Account is a unit that tracks one stream of data: a utility meter at a site, a fuel type, a supplier data feed, a KPI. A retailer with 400 stores, each with electricity, gas and water accounts, reaches Standard quickly. A software company with three offices and most of its footprint in purchased services may sit in Essentials.
That metric explains who Envizi suits. It rewards depth of operational data (meters, buildings, utility bills) and charges more as that data grows. It does not price on users, which is good news for large teams. And the AWS listing confirms the cost "scales with how much data you bring into the platform", so a company that adds sites mid-contract should expect the next renewal to move. Our carbon accounting software cost guide covers how the same levers work across other enterprise platforms.

IBM Envizi pricing next to published carbon accounting prices
The Envizi floor is easier to judge beside other prices that are actually published. Each figure below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or its own AWS Marketplace listing, read in October 2026, except Watershed, which publishes nothing and is shown with labeled buyer data from Vendr. Envizi sits at the entry point of the enterprise band, below Persefoni Advanced and the Watershed median.
| Vendor and plan | Published price | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| IBM Envizi ESG Suite | From $30,000 a year (12-month contract, scales with data volume) | Enterprise ESG data management, utilities, buildings and Scope 1 to 3 |
| IBM Envizi Emissions API | Essentials $45 a month; Standard and Premium by quote | Developers embedding emissions calculations in their own software |
| Persefoni Advanced | $55,000 a year under $250M revenue, up to $260,000 under $25B (AWS Marketplace, 12-month contract) | Enterprise carbon and disclosure platform |
| Watershed | Not published; Vendr buyer data median $70,031 a year | Enterprise measurement, reduction programs and reporting |
| Hydrus Sustainability Platform | From $2,000 a month | Carbon platform with consultants available by the hour |
| Brightest | Impact from $5,900, Transform from $15,900, Enterprise ESG from $45,900 a year | ESG and impact management with carbon accounting |

What you get for the Envizi price
Calling Envizi expensive and moving on would miss what it is good at. Operational data at scale. Utility Bill Analytics, Interval Meter Analytics and Building Ratings and Benchmarks consolidate the energy and building data of a large estate, which is where Envizi started more than a decade ago. Breadth of modules. IBM lists Scope 1 and 2 accounting, Scope 3 with AI-assisted categorization, Scope 3 financed emissions, Supply Chain Intelligence, ESG reporting frameworks (ESRS for CSRD, GRI, SASB, SFDR, UN SDGs and TCFD on the AWS listing), surveys, target tracking and Planning Analytics. Security credentials. The AWS listing states SOC 1, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications. Analyst standing. IBM says Envizi was named a leader in the Verdantix Green Quadrant for Enterprise Carbon Management Software (2026). The IBM estate. Planning Analytics and other IBM products connect natively, which matters to companies already on them.
For a property owner, retailer, utility or manufacturer with hundreds of sites and an energy team chasing consumption, those modules are what the $30,000 and up buys, and it can be good value. Our IBM Envizi alternatives page compares it with other platforms on that basis.
When IBM Envizi pricing is more than the job needs
Many US companies asking about Envizi pricing do not have an estate problem. They have a deadline. A customer wants a Scope 1, 2 and 3 number in a supplier portal, CDP sent a request, or the company has crossed the $1 billion SB 253 threshold. For most of them the largest line is Scope 3 category 1, purchased goods and services, and the data for it sits in accounts payable, not in meters. Paying for a platform priced on site data volume, with a non-refundable 12-month commitment, buys capacity the first inventory will not use.
The work that takes the time is classifying a year of supplier spend into the right scope and Scope 3 category, and keeping the evidence behind each line. That is what we automate. You upload the AP export finance already produces, every line gets a proposed scope and one of the 15 Scope 3 categories with a reason and a confidence score, and only the uncertain lines go to a reviewer. Any tonne can be traced back to the invoice line that produced it, which is what an assurance provider samples. It costs $2,340 to $23,400 a year, published, with no sales call to see the number.
Is IBM Envizi worth the cost for SB 253?
IBM Envizi is worth the cost for SB 253 when the company also needs to manage energy and building data across many sites and wants one system for both. It is more than the regulation requires when the only goal is a compliant report. The first SB 253 report, due November 10, 2026, covers Scope 1 and Scope 2 only; limited assurance and Scope 3 begin with 2027 reports, so year one is the smallest part of the obligation.
Envizi's pricing page does not name SB 253, so ask in the demo how the California report is produced and how evidence is packaged for the assurance provider. Then weigh it with numbers: Persefoni's done-for-you SB 253 service starts at $25,000, and our Compliance plan, built for companies in scope for SB 253, is $7,740 a year. The filing requirements are set out on our SB 253 reporting software page.
How to negotiate an IBM Envizi quote
- 01 Count your Accounts before IBM does. List the sites, meters and data streams you actually need in year one. Leaving out locations that do not matter to your filing can keep you in Essentials.
- 02 Get the bundle and the modules on separate lines. IBM prices data volume first and functionality on top, so ask for each module priced on its own and drop the ones you will not use in the first year.
- 03 Ask for implementation in writing. Partner and IBM services are scoped separately from the subscription. Get a fixed fee or a cap, and a date for the first usable inventory.
- 04 Read the refund clause twice. The AWS listing says orders are non-cancellable and fees non-refundable. Agree the scope before signing, not after.
- 05 Agree what happens when you add sites. Cost scales with data volume. Fix the price per additional bundle step for the renewal, or the second year can jump.
- 06 Check what leaves with you. If you move later, confirm you get the account-level data, factor choices and calculation history in a usable export, not only reports.
