Aclymate alternatives compared on Aclymate software, Aclymate pricing and the options when a directional footprint is no longer enough

Where Aclymate is the better buy, we say so plainly. Aclymate is cheaper than we are for a ten-person company, and it offers a free tier we do not. The question this page answers is narrower: when does a growing US company need something different?

Aclymate describes itself as "your partner for sustainability, carbon accounting, reporting and certifications." It combines three things: software, expert services, and what it calls credibility, meaning certifications, reports, offsets and renewable energy certificates. Its knowledge base puts the core market at companies with roughly 30 to 2,000 employees, and its about page adds small teams of 1 to 200 people who need carbon accounting without hiring a sustainability manager.

The product line has three tiers. Aclymate Explorer is a free carbon calculator and supplier survey tool that produces what Aclymate itself calls "a directional, low-confidence starting estimate," based largely on survey answers. Aclymate Navigator is the core platform: Scope 1, 2 and 3 tracking, activity-based and spend-based calculations, supplier and product records, dashboards, reporting outputs and certificate management. Aclymate One adds a dedicated team of carbon bookkeepers, sustainability consultants and program managers who do the data work with you or for you. An AI guide called Scout answers questions inside the product.

Aclymate publishes prices, which is more than most of this market does. The pricing page uses an employee-count slider, so the figure moves with company size. At the smallest setting, 1 to 10 employees, billed annually, it showed the following in September 2026. Larger companies see higher figures on the same slider, and Aclymate Custom covers larger or more complex programs on a quote.

Two things are worth knowing before you compare those numbers. First, Aclymate prices by headcount and we price by workspace, so a 400-person company should move the Aclymate slider to its own size before drawing conclusions. Second, the plans are not the same product at different prices. The difference is in what the output is built to survive, which the next sections cover.

A real free starting point. Explorer is free with no time limit, and for a small company whose only need is a rough footprint for a sales questionnaire, that may be all it ever needs. People included at a low price. Aclymate One puts carbon bookkeepers and consultants on your account for a few hundred dollars a month at the small end, which is far below a traditional consulting engagement. Certifications and offsets in one place. Aclymate runs its own certification path (Climate Wise, Climate Leader and Net Zero) and offers offsets and RECs through a marketplace partner. We do neither. A QuickBooks connection. Aclymate documents read-only connections to QuickBooks and Plaid; we work from an export file. Product footprints. The Product Footprint Pack handles bills of materials and product-level carbon, which we do not cover.

Choose Aclymate if you are a small or early-stage company, your trigger is a customer questionnaire or a B Corp or EcoVadis application rather than a regulation, you want a certification badge or offsets as part of the program, and you would like people to help at a small-company price. In that situation a directional estimate that improves over time is a sensible purchase, and paying for an assurance-grade system would be premature.

Aclymate is careful about what its product claims, and that care is useful to read. Its own knowledge base says the company "avoids 'guaranteed compliance' or 'audit-ready' claims," that Navigator outputs "are not automatically equivalent to legal compliance, independent assurance, or a final framework submission," and that its AI guide "does not independently approve an official, audit-ready, or assured carbon footprint." Its regulations page lists "California climate reporting readiness" rather than an SB 253 filing product.

That is an honest description of a readiness tool. It also marks the point where some buyers need more. Under California SB 253, limited assurance over Scope 1 and 2 begins with reports submitted in 2027, and the assurance provider will sample individual figures and ask for the source record behind each one. A CDP response is scored against its methodology. A large customer that audits supplier data will ask how a specific purchase was classified. In each case the question is not "what is our footprint?" but "show me why this line is in this category, with this factor."

CarbonAccounting.ai starts from the accounts payable and GL export your finance team already produces, from QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Xero or any ERP. It proposes a scope and one of the 15 Scope 3 categories for every line, states the reason and a confidence level, sends only the uncertain lines to a reviewer, and keeps a link from every tonne to the invoice line that produced it. Every factor choice and override is logged with an owner, and a method change is versioned rather than overwritten, so a restated year can be explained.

That design is aimed at the buyer who has been told the number will be checked. The Compliance plan adds activity-based factors, supplier data requests and report packs for SB 253, CSRD ESRS E1, CBAM and ISSB IFRS S2. The Assurance plan adds multi-entity consolidation, restatement handling and a read-only workspace for your assurance provider. The trade is plain: we cost more than Aclymate at small headcounts, we do not sell offsets or certifications, and we do not put consultants on your account. What you get is evidence that stands on its own.

Aclymate supports readiness for California climate reporting, and its own documentation says it does not guarantee compliance or produce an assured footprint. That is fine for a first look. If your company has more than $1 billion in revenue and does business in California, your first Scope 1 and 2 report is due November 10, 2026, and limited assurance applies from the 2027 report.
